Glass Casting Molds
Finally a creative way to use up your glass scraps!
These durable ceramic molds are made in a 4 inch by 4 inch format on the largest ones and 2.5" by 2.5" on the smallest ones and are rated up to 2000 degrees, making them usable even in very small kilns. They can be used with glass scraps, dichroics or frit. Use them to make dichroic glass jewelry, cast glass items for mosaics or stained glass work, rim art on your fused bowls, pate de verre, or?? Put your imagination to work. This picture shows a few items made with these molds.

Firing Instructions for casting molds

Apply a good quality kiln wash to these molds and they will last thru many firings. Sometimes more than one fire is necessary to produce good results, depending on the type and size of kiln you are using.
COE 90 firing schedule
seg 1 - 300*F/hour to 1375* hold 10 minutes
seg 2 - As fast as possible to 960*F with no venting
seg 3 - 60*F/hour to 700*F
seg 4 - off, cool kiln, no venting
COE 96 firing schedule
seg1-300*F/hour to 1350*F hold 10 minutes
seg 2 - as fast as possible to 960*F with no venting
seg 3 - 60*F/hour to 700*F
seg 4 - off, cool kiln, no venting
